Want to use the GPS on your N95 with a laptop or other external device? Here’s how I did it with my N800.

Download ExtGPS to your N95 from Symarctic here, or visit this page and scan the QR code to begin the installation. ExtGPS allows you use your phone’s built-in GPS module externally with a laptop or any other device via bluetooth. It works with the N95, the 6110 and the E90.

If you have an N800, you can use your N95 with MaemoMapper or the new Maps application that comes with OS2008. All you have to do is go configure it in Settings>Control Panel, select “GPS location” and check the “Enable GPS” checkbox. Go to the GPS device drop-down list and select your N95. If it doesn’t show up, click on “Pair new device” and then select it (make sure you’ve turned on ExtGPS and Bluetooth on your phone).

Now you’ll be able to use MaemoMapper or the Maps application for all your navigation purposes.

Have you discovered other uses of GPS and the N95? Share them in the comments section.
