It’s easy to customize the application icons on the home screen of your N95. Here’s how I came across the way to do it.

I’ve been working on a cool application that does some fancy geotagging and geodiscovery on your handset. (Perhaps I’ll reveal more in a future article.) Because I’m still testing and tweaking this application, which requires multiple launches each day, I found it pretty annoying to have to navigate into the “Applications” folder just to start it up.

What I really wanted was a quick application launcher icon on the home screen just like all the other default icons you see – Clock, Web, etc. It wasn’t immediately obvious, but a bit of searching showed me how to do this.

First, I found out that the home screen is called the “Standby” screen. After that discovery, changing the application icons in standby mode was rather easy. The screenshots below will take you through the process of selecting and changing your standby apps.

Do you have any other ideas for modifying the standby apps on your N95? Share them in the comments section.
