A while ago, I wrote about how to turn your N95 into a hotspot. Here’s an update that takes advantage of the N95-3’s faster HSPDA support for a Bluetooth connection on the go.
You’ll need an N95-3 to take this approach, which you can determine by checking the revision number underneath your handset’s battery. If you have an older device, then check out my previous article on the hotspot approach.
If you have Mac OS X 10.5 and your carrier has support for HSDPA (AT&T, for example), then you can simply connect using the HSDPA modem scripts to get access to these faster speeds. Get the updated HSDPA modem script and then put the contents of the ZIP file in your /Library/Modem Scripts directory.
Then, on your OS X system, open Network Preferences and select Bluetooth. Choose the configuration for your phone (if you followed the original article, this might be something like “AT&T”).

Choose Advanced, and then select HSDPA from the Model dropdown.

The next time you attempt a connection using your handset, it will use the newer connection script to give you faster access. And there you have it.
Have you tried this method, or others like it? Share your findings in the comments section.
