In addition to the exclusive Workshop interview with N810 project manager Urho Konttori and the official Nokia press release, there’s a lot of N810 WiMAX Edition coverage in the news.

Engadget covers the announcement from CTIA:

“You’ll notice the familiar 4.13-inch touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and even a built-in webcam for video calls, Mozilla-powered browser, integrated GPS / media player, 2GB of internal memory and a microSD expansion slot. Heck, Nokia even touts this thing’s ability to ‘access the Internet over WiFi or via conventional cellular data networks by pairing to a compatible mobile phone via Bluetooth technology.’ Also announced today is the freshly updated OS2008, which includes an enhanced e-mail client, support for Chinese character rendering in the browser and RSS feeds and ‘Seamless Software Update functionality’ to boot. Needless to say, said OS will come standard on the currently unpriced Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition, which is scheduled to land wherever WiMAX connectivity is available, but existing N810 / N800 owners will also get the upgrade free of charge in Q2.”

CNET calls out several features of the new N810:

“For those unfamiliar with WiMAX, it is a wireless broadband technology that promises to deliver download speeds of up to 2Mbps to 4 Mbps with the potential to even hit up to 10Mbps, so we’re talking cable and DSL-like speeds here.

“While WiMAX is the big story, there are a couple of other noteworthy changes to the Nokia N810. The slide-out full QWERTY keyboard has been improved to provide more tactile feedback and it also features a new color scheme that makes it easier to find the number and symbol keys. The N810 WiMAX Edition will also ship with the latest Internet Tablet operating system that includes an enhanced e-mail client and a Seamless Software Update that will provide over-the-air software updates to your device - no more manual updates (huzzah!).”

Gizmodo gets hands on with the N810 WiMAX Edition:

“Aside from 4g internet, the N810 WiMAX Edition now allows firmware updates over the air without complete memory reformatting (3rd party apps can also utilize this wireless update protocol). The updated tablet also includes a few cosmetic changes to the OS interface and a new, Web 2.0-compatible Mozilla browser. Nokia claims the N810 seamlessly switches from WiMAX to wi-fi when available and features a new, Web 2.0-compatible Mozilla browser.”
